I truly do recommend this book for any woman (or man, even) who has found themselves cycling through relationships and never seeming to be able to get it "right". Twoof the most interesting characteristics of women who saw me for treatment was the fact that they rejected any “nice guys” they had dates with because they were “boring. A typical example of this is when the lover does not allow the beloved to enjoy sufficient private space. For this reason, classical art often depicts the god of love, Cupid, as blind, indicating that lovers are blind to the faults or the unsuitability of the one they love.

Many bleeding heart type of people take care of everyone but themselves, and then end up having emotional problems as a result. This book states how our childhood can affect our future relationships with partners and friends, stories from women with different traumas they've experienced in their life, the problems they encountered with their destructive partners, and the reasons why they are attracted to them.Even if you’re not a woman who loves too much, the book is a reminder that we indeed make our lives and that love is supposed to be a happy event. Another possibility is that the obsessional thinking can hide a fear of being controlled and dominated by an authoritarian man who represents the controlling and rejecting parent of childhood.
