A moisture meter is a device used to measure the levels of moisture present in a building. They are often used to measure moisture levels in walls. Moisture meters can either work as conductivity meters or as capacitance meters. Generally speaking, moisture meters that are calibrated for wood offer a reading scale ranging from 6% to 40%. Does it mean that wood can not hold more moisture than 40%? No. As said earlier, wood has a great water-holding capacity and can have way more than 40% moisture content.
