About this deal

Fan heaters are probably the ones you want if you’re on a budget and you expect good results. Which is the cheapest electric heater to run? Carbon infrared heater got its name because the elements are made of carbon fibre, just like Edison's first light bulb. The name is actually quite misleading, because a carbon fibre lamp also contains halogen gas and is a type of halogen lamp. The characteristics of the lamp give longer service life and lower element temperatures. This gives softer radiant heat and can be experienced as warmer. Tests have shown that a carbon infrared heater heats the skin more efficiently and is therefore experienced as warmer despite a lower output. Halogen infrared heater

Unlike fan heaters, which heat the air by using a lot of electricity (while also blowing dust around the home), infrared heaters have no moving parts and, just like the sun, the heat they emit cuts right through the air to alight on objects in the room – be that a living thing or a solid item. Oscillation is important when there is more than one person in the space since halogen heaters use radiant heat.

With the ongoing energy crisis still in full swing, looking for smart ways to heat the home while saving on the cost has become a priority for many, and infrared heaters are at the forefront in this regard. Infrared radiation comes in different so-called wavelengths. This works similarly to the different colors of visible light, which is also caused by different wavelengths. Common to both types of heaters is the medium wave spectrum. Many materials are especially receptive to infrared waves from this region of the light spectrum. The use of infrared heaters therefore contributes to the accelerated drying of water and other solvents and to economical processing of plastics and glass.

This heater is appropriate for rooms with strong insulation but does not possess enough power to heat a large space like a garage or utility room. An electric heater isn’t cheap to operate, therefore, investing in the most energy-efficient appliance possible will save you a great deal of cash in the long run. However, if your outdoor dining table is short on space then a table top design might mean too much surface clutter, in which case a freestanding or wall-hung patio heater can be a better bet.

Doing so will reduce the kWh you use, but you still have the option of getting that heat boost by cranking it to the full 3kW output. It offers two heat settings – either 600W or 1200W in the larger model – thanks to its two independently controlled heating elements, and also comes equipped with oscillating modes that enable the heater to rotate through 360° or 120° to warm multiple users in turn. Plus, there's a handy built-in automatic switch-off function should the patio heater tip over. The majority of infrared heaters are panel-based models, and most of them are designed to be professionally installed against a wall or on a ceiling. Indeed, many homeowners these days are opting for infrared panels instead of standard radiators. This one, like most freestanding halogen heaters, includes an oscillation feature and three heat settings. Typically, these heaters are quite large. So, not only do they take up space, but they can be more cumbersome to move than a small fan or halogen heater. That said, a typical convection space heater only weighs around 4-5kg.
