About this deal

Loved this whiskey from the beginning, one of my first and it will certainly stay with me for quite a while. Every time the finish is gone you feel like stepping into the sun again. Bushmills is a small village on the North coast of Northern Ireland, two and a half miles from famous tourist spot, the Giants Causeway. In The Sting, Robert Redford's character can be seen drinking Bushmills whiskey before the final con. Palate (undiluted): medium-bodied, very little tongue-burn (bottled at 40% ABV), lots of red fruit (cherry, raspberry), malty, nutty, biscuits Taste - The baking spice mix (cinnamon/nutmeg/cloves blended nicely together) takes centre stage on the palate, with the apple and butter notes also continuing through from the nose on a supporting basis. Overall, the intensity of the taste does not match that of the aromas initially presented.

Bushmills 16-year single malt – Malt whiskeys aged at least 16 years in American bourbon barrels or Spanish Oloroso sherry butts are mixed together before finishing in Port pipes for a few months. We Are Kilbeggan". Kilbeggan Distilling Co . Retrieved 31 March 2022. 1917:Owing to food shortages throughout Great Britain, the distilling of whiskey in Ireland is suspended. I hate whisky snobs (Sorry if you are one). What's wrong with this - short answer, nothing. It's a fun, complicated, busy whisky for all that it's a dirty Irish blend, bey. Bushmills Distillery Reserve 12-year single malt – exclusively available at the Old Bushmills Distillery, this 12-year aged single malt is matured in oak casks for a rich, complex flavour with notes of sherry, dark chocolate and spices. Finish: Still barley all over with some sweetness. In the finish I got the first real glimpse of the usual bad habits of blended stuff: a bit poignant and watery. The band NOFX mentions Bushmills in the song "Theme from a NOFX Album" on the 2000 release Pump Up the Valuum. I honestly wasn't expecting a lot, but this was really pleasant and easy to drink, and a fantastic way to ease into a big night of drinking. I've been banging on about session whiskies recently (whiskies you drink when you want to have a real drinking session), and this hit the nail dead on the head. I wanted a second glass. Overall, it’s a solid label design. As usual, I think it’s a little big and hides most of the whiskey from view, but it carries a certain amount of gravitas and history in that design that fits with the ancient age of the distillery itself.Over the years, the distillery went into and out of business with the Bushmills Old Distillery Company founded in 1784 to handle the distillery operations.

The taste was fresh and light, with a hint of sherry smoke, and a little salt joining the initial sweet toffee. Over a few seconds a hint of spice comes through to balance all the sweetness. In the early 20th century, the U.S. was a very important market for Bushmills (and other Irish Whiskey producers). American Prohibition in 1920 came as a large blow to the Irish Whiskey industry, but Bushmills managed to survive. Wilson Boyd, Bushmills' director at the time, predicted the end of prohibition and had large stores of whiskey ready to export. After the Second World War, the distillery was bought by Isaac Wolfson, and, in 1972, it was taken over by Irish Distillers, meaning that Irish Distillers controlled the production of all Irish whiskey at the time. In June 1988, Irish Distillers was bought by French liquor group Pernod Ricard. McCreary, Alf (1983). Spirit of the Age: The Story of "Old Bushmills". Bushmills, Antrim, Northern Ireland: The "Old Bushmills" Distillery Company Ltd. ISBN 0950908304. Bushmills is the world's oldest whiskey distillery and is renowned for making award winning triple distilled single malt and blended Irish whiskey

It is fruity and sweet on the palate, but with a sharp edge. Peach again, but also clear notes of wood, which I had less in previous releases. Honey and allspice. Sultanas? I confess I am just a tad disappointed after the wonderful nose. Palate: Rich, ripe fruit such as cantaloupe and fig mix with marzipan, almond milk, and a pronounced numbing clove flavor. The body is chewy and round with low tannins and a long, mellow finish with little to no alcohol astringency.

Mixology and cocktails

Bushmills Original is an approachable whiskey with a rich, characterful taste of fresh fruit and vanilla Palate: Pronounced warm baking spices, and a nice light vanilla sweetness. It’s medium bodied with some chewy grains and well balanced tannins. Distinctly unmemorable, but pleasant. Palate: The taste is all warm spices, caramelized sugar and marzipan. It’s quite round, with a touch of tannic astringency and some nice, rich sherry character coming through. Some raw ethanol heat but nothing terrible unpleasant and a medium length finish. \ Bank of Ireland to feature Old Bushmills Distillery on new Northern Ireland note issue".
