I also liked the love story although I did think the love interest changed his mind about the main character a bit too quickly (hating her to then liking her) but I was rooting for them to get together so I wasn't bothered. I've had it for months and I couldn't decide to read it, once I started I couldn't stop until I finished it. It takes around 2/3 days to read, by the end the end I have enjoyed the overall story and would read any sequels. If you can't portray the characters emotion without them swearing then the writing could have been stronger. The book's main focus is on the mystery that shrouds everything, including the intricate relationship between the two main characters.The old Scandinavian setting was freaking awesome, but once they got out of the Gold Court, it didn't really matter anymore. With thorough editing I think I can see an interesting story here, but as it stands, I’m not sure I care to read the next book in the series. There is clearly a whole lot more going on than what is currently revealed to readers, with so many different power players moving to consolidate their reign I am positive things are going to get more dangerous for Max and Reyna before the series ends. Max held his secrets close to his chest, and while he demanded to know all Reyna's secrets he refused to reveal his own. It felt like he was barely in the story, and when he did show up, he had no redeeming qualities other than being hot? A strong female should be intelligent, recognise her situation and push to gain the upper hand, not by being rude, but by being smart.The main characters had no characterisation at all, and Reyna had only one personality trait: doing and saying the exakt opposite of what everyone tells her to do and nothing else. The rhythm of the story helps a lot, it awakened my curiosity, I loved the world it evokes but above all the distrustful, loyal and belligerent female protagonist. Reyna was resourceful, but combative, an interesting combination since her survival depended on keeping a low profile and not standing out. A) Think (amongst all these people who kill humans for sport and nibbles), somebody likes me and is trying to save me. I only give 5 stars if it has managed to engage extra emotions from me - extreme lol moments or real teary moments etc.
