About this deal

There is an in-depth discussion on violent people and their thought processes. How their childhood affects human behavior was an interesting add-on. And their urges were intriguing, albeit a little terrifying. It highlights the grey area of human nature and that people can’t be simply put in good or bad areas. A romance subplot There is a psycho killer out there. Killed 6 teenage boys leaving them tattooed with a heart on their chests. The 7th managed to escape. We have a psychologist profiling the killer trying to hide her own errors in judgement? A lawyer, whose own son was murdered, defending the accused? And the kid who escaped, well he’s loving the limelight but his mom can recognize the telltale signs that he is keeping a secret. Her flawed character and the job that puts her close to potential murderers made her seem strong and vulnerable at the same time. Someone you might forgive even substantial lapses in judgement and root the whole time to find their way out of trouble. A.R. Torre is a pseudonym of Alessandra Torre and is her dark alter ego. While Alessandra writes spicy romances, A.R. focuses on twisted stories filled with secrets, suspense, drama, and danger. Gwen’s thoughts on whether Randall was guilty or not got a bit drawn out. It was too clear to the reader that it wasn’t him, so it made Gwen’s bias seem more silly to me rather than interesting. I was thinking, omg just realise it already!

The Good Lie by A.R. Torre | Goodreads

Robert Kavin is a defense attorney whose son was killed by one of the most sought after serial killers known as the Bloody Heart Killer. The Good Lie was everything I hoped it would be. An exciting, well written thriller. A chilling plot mixed with light narration that made everything easy to digest. The Bloody Heart Killer has taken six victims already. When his seventh victim escapes and points the finger at a local teacher as the serial killer, the police are satisfied. But Robert Kavin, the father of a deceased victim, doesn't believe it. So he asks Dr. Gwen Moore, a psychiatrist who specializes in treating killers, to step in and help. But the more she digs, the more questions she has. Because it seems everyone involved is hiding secrets. So what is the real truth? This is what the starting of the blurb states. And if that doesn’t intrigue you? I don’t know what will! But there’s something off from the start and she can’t quite pinpoint it. She has to find her way through the mess, as her relationship with Robert Kavin is getting more intimate. As Gwen and Robert grow closer and she dives deeper into the investigation, grave questions arise. So does Gwen’s suspicion that Robert is hiding something—and that he might not be the only one with a secret. He knows that someone else is behind the crime. And he will stop at nothing to find out who. Robert and Dr. Moore I've never studied law but the conflict of interests between Rob and Randall seemed too farfetched for Rob to be his attorney. Though I was willing to overlook this.

Review: The Good Lie by A.R. Torre – Always With a Book Review: The Good Lie by A.R. Torre – Always With a Book

In addition, the main characters are a police detective and a doctor of psychology and I was continually wondering how these professionals became so sleazy? There was an non washable dirt factor to the book which didn’t sit right. I was really hooked onto this one right from the first chapter because there is something very special about heinous and gruesome crimes which fascinates me a lot and I love reading about them. Toronto Film Festival Lineup Includes Denzel Washington's 'Equalizer,' Kate Winslet's 'A Little Chaos' ". Variety. July 22, 2014 . Retrieved July 22, 2014.I read 20% of this book the first night and then finished it the next day. This story grabbed me and wouldn't let go. I managed to figure out some things but I was so wrong on a lot of them. It's a clever story with smart characters who don't always get it right.
